How It Works

1

Connect Your System

You'll connect your Victron installation and OpenHAB setup. OAuth authentication keeps your data secure.

2

We Analyze & Optimize

Our algorithm will fetch price forecasts, weather data, and your consumption patterns to calculate an optimized battery schedule.

3

Automated Control

Download generated OpenHAB rules or connect via API. The goal: your battery charges during cheap hours and discharges during expensive peaks.

Built in Austria

Ergant started as a personal project by an electrical engineer who got tired of manually checking aWATTar prices every morning. After months of spreadsheets, we built an optimization engine based on linear programming — it uses real electricity prices, weather forecasts, and your consumption patterns to schedule your battery, hour by hour. Now we're testing it on real systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Ergant cost?

Free during beta. After launch, plans start at €9/month. No hidden fees, no long-term contracts. Cancel anytime.

Which inverters are supported?

Currently Victron Energy inverters with OpenHAB integration. Support for Home Assistant and additional inverter brands (Fronius, SMA, SolarEdge) is planned for later releases.

Is my data safe?

Your historical energy data will stay on your local OpenHAB installation. We'll only access current values via OAuth with your explicit permission. All communication will be encrypted with HTTPS. See our Datenschutzerklärung for details.

Do I need technical knowledge?

Basic OpenHAB familiarity helps. We generate the automation rules for you — you just download and install them in your OpenHAB configuration. If you can edit a text file and restart a service, you can use Ergant.

How much can I really save?

It depends on your system size, electricity tariff, and consumption patterns. Ergant is designed to shift your consumption and battery charging to hours when electricity is cheapest (typically during solar production peaks or overnight low-demand periods), and discharge during expensive evening peaks. We're collecting real-world data during the beta to quantify actual savings.
